This week, I contributed as speaker to the second edition of the Green Insurance Forum, organized here in Beijing by Generali China. In the company of distinguished fellow panelists from ENI Gianni Di Giovanni, Marsh China Insurance Brokers, China Property and Casualty Reinsurance, and moderated by Generali China Insurance CEO Jack Yuan, I spoke about how Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) quantifies transition risks in green projects, what are the products to mitigate risks in such projects, and how private sector companies such as Generali and multilateral organizations such as AIIB should come together to achieve the green transition. It was an honor to join the 5th Session of the  United Nations ESCAP Committee on Macroeconomic Policy, Poverty Reduction and Financing for Development in Bangkok on Nov 19. My sincere thanks to Executive Secretary Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana and the entire ESCAP team for convening such a timely dialogue. I also appreciated the chance to exchange views with fellow keynote speakers, H.E. Ahmed Mazin, Minister of State for Finance and Planning of the Maldives, and Benjarong Suwankiri, Vice Minister of Finance of Thailand. Our discussions underscored a shared commitment to navigate today’s complex economic landscape. We are operating in a new global reality. The era of unfettered globalization is receding—giving way to rising trade protectionism and the imperative of climate‑resilient development. The central question is: How do we balance near‑term economic stability with the long‑term necessity of a green and just transition? At Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), we are aligning our operations with this paradigm. To date, we have approved 351 projects totaling USD 68.4 billion across 40 members, translating our mandate into concrete impact. I was pleased to highlight AIIB’s deepening #partnership with UN ESCAP—combining our financing capabilities with ESCAP’s policy convening power. Our collaboration is moving from dialogue to action, including a joint transport workshop next week and a forthcoming joint publication.
