This is an example of how to check if a database supports batch updates. Checking if a database supports batch updates implies that you should:
- Load the JDBC driver, using the
forName(String className)API method of the Class. In this example we use the MySQL JDBC driver. - Create a Connection to the database. Invoke the
getConnection(String url, String user, String password)API method of the DriverManager to create the connection. - Get the DatabaseMetaData, with the
getMetaData()API method of the Connection. It contains metadata about the database to which this Connection object represents a connection. The metadata includes information about the database’s tables, its supported SQL grammar, its stored procedures, the capabilities of this connection, and so on. - To check whether this database supports batch updates or not invoke the
supportsBatchUpdates()of the DatabaseMetaData.
