Hello all,
NumFocus (the Matplotlib fiscal sponser) has adopted a new code of conduct
and is standing up a CoC working group and response process. Matplotlib can
opt-in to the NumFocus CoC and response process in March 2025, which would
replace our current CoC and response process.
There will be an informational session lead by NumFOCUS Tuesday, March 4th,
8:00 - 9:00 am PST / 16:00 - 17:00 UTC (zoom link
<https://numfocus-org.zoom.us/j/87592551095?pwd=Kcabspakme5pNm3omCvgGP1aAMbC…>)
for anyone interested.
For more details, please see

Please also share your feedback on this change at the discourse link.
Thank you,
Hannah
Hello folks,
We are in dire need of GSOC mentors this year and have to let numfocus know
by February 10th
If anything on the project list piques your interest (
https://hackmd.io/@matplotlib/projectslist) or there's a long standing
project you'd like to mentor, please let me know.
Being a mentor typically averages out to about 8-10hrs/wk of work:
* a weekly or biweekly 1-2 hr check-in meeting
* reviewing mentees PRs
* being available on chat to answer the mentees questions
* filling out two status reports for google
Mentoring is always done with at least one other mentor, in this situation
likely me, and you are welcome to limit your scope to just technical
questions. If you are interested, please let me know.
SIncerely, Hannah
