✈️ Frontex is flying high Border management at airports and air border surveillance were the main focus of this year’s Operational Heads of Airports Conference (OHAC), organised by Frontex. The event brought together Frontex Contingent Commanders, representatives of 86 airports from EU and non-EU countries, and three European organisations (EUROCONTROL, Europol, INTERPOL) to discuss current operational conditions at airports and new developments in air border management. The recent introduction of the Entry/Exit System (EES) and the future European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) set the framework for discussions on current challenges and future solutions, and on how different actors can work together to deliver secure, digitally-driven EU borders. The Conference is part of Frontex’s effort to provide a platform for strategic dialogue between airport border-crossing point commanders, international organisations and partner countries. 💪🤝Efficient cooperation and mutual trust make the EU’s borders stronger. ✈️ And helps us all fly high.

Fifteen years ago, a group of professionals on two continents decided to trust each other 🤝 They shared information, compared notes, and tried to make sense of challenges that were bigger than any one country. None of us imagined how far that first step would take us. 🌍 Today, Africa-Frontex Intelligence Community is recognised across Africa and Europe as a reliable partner in border management. It brings together officers, analysts, and experts who face the same pressures and the same risks, and who understand that no country can meet these challenges alone. When we choose to work together, we become stronger than the challenges in front of us. Every country in this network brings its own experience, its own knowledge, and its own pressures. Yet when we sit at the same table, we speak with one voice. #InternationalCooperation #BorderManagement #eu

🦌 Welcome to Lapland, where cooperation goes hand in hand with friendship! 🤝 Our colleagues work alongside the Rajavartiolaitos - Gränsbevakningsväsendet - The Finnish Border Guard 16 hours a day and up to 5 days in a row to ensure the security of the vast expanse of Lapland. They cannot go home between shifts, but luckily, they have their work family close, supporting each other through thick and thin as part of the mission. The Lapland region is bigger than the area of some European countries. This vast region includes hundreds of kilometers of external EU borders. Border surveillance in Lapland involves a unique working regime and difficult conditions. The nights are months long, and summer days have midnight sunsets. A typical day on the Long Patrol involves up to 10 km of foot patrol, patrolling with the use of ATVs and observation towers, but also time to connect with colleagues and relax in the sauna. ♨️ The sauna is part of Finnish culture, it is a place to relax, socialise, de-stress, and engage in a ritual that involves both physical and mental well-being. Would you like to be part of the team and join the Long Patrol? Watch the video to find out more about our mission in Finland. Share to show your support. 🤜🤛

🧭 Trust in navigation signals, even when there’s interference Jamming and spoofing of navigation signals are becoming a real challenge at parts of the EU’s external borders. Together with the EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Romanian Coast Guard, Frontex has carried out a small-scale pilot of an enhanced tracking solution using the EU’s #Galileo satellite navigation system. 🛰️ By using authenticated Galileo signals to flag possible interference and combining them with other data, the solution helps patrol crews maintain confidence in their position and strengthens the resilience of border operations at sea. 🚤 #Navigation #BorderManagement #Frontex #EUSPA #EUspace

Borders are meant to protect shared values, not create barriers This principle guides our work with non-EU partners, in particular those on the path to EU accession. Today, we welcomed high-level representatives of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine to the Frontex Management Board meeting in Warsaw. Our discussions focused on: ➡️strategic perspectives on the evolving security environment and the EU Migration and Asylum Pact ➡️operational responses to current border challenges ➡️governance of European Integrated Border Management and alignment with EU standards A key milestone was the signing of Memoranda of Understanding on the complaints mechanism with Montenegro, Serbia and North Macedonia – another step towards harmonising border management and establishing common standards, including on safeguards and transparency. Europe as a space of common values can only be built through unified actions. That is why Frontex remains committed to supporting partners on their EU accession aspirations through strong, structured collaboration. *This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244/1999 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence.

⚠️Thousands of fake goods meet their end right here!⚠ In a strong display of cross-agency collaboration, Frontex 🤝 and AT - Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira T have successfully intercepted and seized a large shipment of counterfeit goods under JAD Pirate 3👟. In the container, there were over 6,800 pairs of “VEJA” branded shoes, with an estimated market value of above EUR 957,500.00. A Joint Action Day (JAD) is an intelligence-led, coordinated operation where national law enforcement authorities, EU agencies like Frontex, and international partners come together to combat serious and organized cross-border crime. Why is the head of the EU Border and Coast Guard Agency visiting Cabo Verde, a small island state in the Atlantic, and then flying straight to a ministerial meeting with Middle East and North Africa leaders in Portugal? Because what happens far from Europe’s borders increasingly shapes what happens at them. In this article, I reflect on my recent visits to Praia, Lisbon and Cascais – and what they say about the future of our cooperation with partners beyond the EU.

🇵🇹🇪🇺 Ever wondered what it takes to keep Europe's waters safe? 🌊⚓️ As part of #JADMobile8 under EMPACT framework, the Autoridade Marítima Nacional, through Maritime Police, hosted several Frontex and EU Member States experts who assisted the national authorities on the spot. They carried out specialized checks of boats and outboard engines in various ports and dry docks in Portugal. 🛥️🛂 This joint action strengthens EU maritime security by detecting undocumented vessels, verifying mechanical compliance, and tackling irregularities at sea. A Joint Action Day (JAD) is an intelligence-led, coordinated operation where national law enforcement authorities, EU agencies like Frontex, and international partners come together to combat serious and organized cross-border crime. The results of JAD Mobile 8 include: - Over 900 vessels checked - Over 60 engines seized - Over 25 boats seized - Over 300 requests for further checks - Over 150 cases requiring further investigation These operations highlight the importance of cross-border cooperation between Frontex, Autoridade Marítima Nacional, and other EU partners to safeguard maritime borders and ensure safe and lawful movements across Europe’s waters. Together, we build a safer maritime environment for everyone. #Frontex #MaritimeSecurity #JointActionDays
