Bridging the gap between education and industry isn't just about hiring talent—it's about empowering the educators who inspire it. This week, we have partnered in two transformative events organized by ANIS Romania that are shaping the future of tech education and workforce development in Romania. At the #ANISScholarshipGala, we awarded 3 of the 25 scholarships recognizing university professors who are pioneering new approaches to teaching. With 85 applications this year, the competition showcased the innovation happening across Romania's academic institutions. Victor Ion Munteanu, Senior Software Development Engineer, served as a jury member alongside university professors from polytechnic institutes nationwide and other ANIS members. Florin Manolache, Senior Manager Software Developer at Amazon Romania, presented our scholarships to three outstanding educators: 🏆 Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning: Iapa Catalin, Lecturer at the Faculty of Automation and Computers, Politehnica University of Timișoara, for "AI – Assisted Software Development" 🏆 Cybersecurity: Mădălina Doinea-Zurini, Lecturer at the Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics, ASE Bucharest, for "Artificial Intelligence in IT Security Systems" 🏆 Internet of Things: Gordana Barb, Ph.D, Lecturer at the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Politehnica University of Timișoara, for "Traffic Engineering in Telecommunications Networks" While we're proud to support these three winners, we applaud all 85 participants and look forward to seeing this initiative grow in both scholarships and applications in the years ahead. Reimagining the Future of Work Prior to the gala, we were part of a roundtable discussion: "The Future of Work: Skills, Transitions, and Partnerships for Youth Integration in the Labor Market" where Josan Cristian proudly represented us. As digitalization, automation, and the digital economy rapidly transform the workplace, we explored concrete solutions for strengthening partnerships between educational institutions and businesses. The focus: ensuring young graduates are equipped with the skills and support they need to thrive in an evolving labor market. From tech enthusiasts to AI innovators, every conversation at our #DevCon2025 booth reminded us why we love building technology in Bucharest. For two intensive days, we joined one of Bucharest's most dynamic tech conferences, connecting with hundreds of fellow tech professionals. Our team of volunteers had the privilege of engaging with many of you, discussing technology trends, and testing your fun levels through our quiz (with brownies as brain fuel, of course). The atmosphere was electric across all six tracks, with passionate discussions ranging from emerging technologies to engineering best practices. Amazon celebrated 20 years of innovation, growth, and community impact in Romania! We recently hosted a week-long series of events, where we engaged multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, highlighting our journey from a small tech office in Romania to one of Amazon's most significant development centers in Eastern Europe. Our nostalgic photo collection presented the key milestones that have shaped our story in Romania - from our first office opening, to memorable team celebrations, and impactful community initiatives. The main anniversary event featured inspiring stories from tenured Amazonians approaching their own 20th Amazon anniversaries, alongside presentations from all our local leaders. Family Day proved to be deeply emotional, with many touching moments, as it offered a special opportunity for Amazonians to open our office doors to those who've been curious about their children's professional world. For TechO(n) Conference, we've gathered in Bucharest top tech experts who shape Amazon's global direction, to share practical knowledge and insights about being authentic in the AI era. Our local networking event gathered in Iasi over 170 external partners, among which local authorities representatives, academic partners, key business representatives of the main companies in Iasi and NGO partners. Our anniversary week ended with a memorable team event. For us, this milestone anniversary reminded us that great achievements are built on the foundation of passionate people who dare to pioneer, innovate, and grow together as one community. Today, our Iasi office was part of the "Education is Key" global campaign, while we hosted a community event, in partnership with Fundatia Servicilor Sociale Bethany. Around 100 of Amazonians volunteered to pack backpacks with essential school supplies for rural children. Working together in an assembly line, we filled each backpack with notebooks, pencils, pens, and other educational materials. This initiative aims to ensure 120 rural students start their school year prepared and more confident.
