Supporting Credible Corporate Transition through Carbon Markets At COP SG Pavilion Finance Day, SSFA kicked off with opening remarks from our Director, Kavitha Menon, CFA, alongside insights from Eu-Lin Fang and Yanxiang Wang (PwC Singapore, and SSFA Carbon Markets Workstream Knowledge Partner) on our upcoming Claims Guidance Document. Through extensive stakeholder consultations and aligning with global standard bodies like VCMI, this guidance is designed to support corporates in navigating the voluntary carbon market with clarity and confidence, and ensuring high-integrity carbon claims. Next up, our esteemed panel, moderated by Kavitha Menon (SSFA) and comprising Anshari Rahman (GenZero), Benedict Chia (National Climate Change Secretariat, Singapore), Chris Leeds (Standard Chartered, SSFA Carbon Markets Co-lead), Saurabh Joshi (Climate Impact X, SSFA Carbon Markets Co-lead Team), discussed common challenges and uncertainties in corporate transition planning. They also explored high-integrity principles and how our Claims Guidance Document will provide clarity for corporates’ use of carbon credits. Key Takeaways: 1️⃣ Corporate decarbonisation efforts in Asia are highly uneven, particularly in addressing complex areas like Scope 3 emissions, and face significant internal hurdles. Many companies, especially SMEs, struggle with Scope 3 emissions, governance, data quality, and financing, necessitating targeted support. 2️⃣ Establishing credible and high-integrity decarbonisation strategies requires clear policy signals and collaborative initiatives that drive active corporate commitment. Transparent guidelines from initiatives like SSFA's upcoming Claims Guidance and the Shared Principles developed by The Coalition to Grow Carbon Markets, are vital for applying the mitigation hierarchy and fostering investor confidence in high-quality, criteria-based carbon credits. 3️⃣ Robust market infrastructure, bolstered by digitalisation and capacity building, is critical for scaling climate action. Trusted exchanges, efficient digital processes, and increased knowledge are essential for companies to confidently invest in external climate impact projects, thereby improving transparency and accelerating regional decarbonisation. SSFA remains committed to driving these crucial conversations and supporting the region's transition towards a sustainable future. 👉 Find out more about the Shared Principles here: https://lnkd.in/gcYt3_iF 👉 Watch this space for our upcoming Claims Guidance Document!
