Kids in Focus is a Sony Europe programme which aims to inspire the next generation of young people across Europe in the art of photography. Last October, our latest Kids in Focus workshop was held at Skaun Secondary School in Trondheim (Norway), which focuses on offering alternative classes to teenage students with ADHD, dyslexia, and reading and writing difficulties, to empower the students through the art of photography. Our colleagues from our Alpha Force of Sony Nordics led an engaging workshop for a group of 15-year-old girls, equipped with four donated ZV-E10 vlog cameras, to explore their creativity and learn essential photography skills. Students dove into technical fundamentals, mastering concepts like shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. Then, they captured various photographic styles, showcasing their newfound confidence and creativity, and a unique adventure on a renovated fishing boat allowed them to document crab fishing, applying their skills in a practical setting. 📸 A heartfelt thank you to our colleagues and everyone involved for making this workshop a memorable experience and leading new generations through the art of photography! 👏🏽 #Sustainability #SocialContribution #SonyCares [Image Description: A group of students on a fishing boat observe a man holding a crab while pointing towards the water. Last October, one of our incredible teams from Sony Europe Belgium came together to bring the spirit of Sinterklaas (Saint Nicholas, patron saint of children) to mothers in need. In the lead-up to Christmas, we dedicated our time to preparing thoughtful gifts for families facing financial hardship, ensuring that no child goes without a present this festive season. 🎁🎄 From toys and books to cosy winter essentials, each gift was carefully selected and packed with love. The team had a great time - everyone was kind and welcoming. Our main task was helping to prepare the Sinterklaas packages, which included toys and books. They also had a tour of the organisation, and it was so impressive to see how smoothly everything works and how well-organised their activities are. Participating in these volunteering days is not only rewarding but also a great opportunity to learn some management skills! A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated volunteers, your commitment to this cause is truly inspiring! 💖 #SonyCares #Sustainability #SocialContribution [Image Description: A collage of images featuring volunteers from Sony Belgium in a warehouse setting. 📣 We are thrilled to announce the launch of the SonyAI Fair Human-Centric Image Benchmark (FHIBE), a groundbreaking dataset designed to establish a new global benchmark for fairness evaluation in computer vision models. Over the course of three years, a global team of Sony AI researchers, engineers, policy specialists, and project managers worked to develop the rigorous procedures for data collection, annotation, and validation that became FHIBE. In an era where AI technologies are integral to our daily lives, addressing bias and ethical data collection is more important than ever. FHIBE is the first publicly available, consensually collected, and globally diverse dataset for evaluating fairness for a wide variety of human-centric computer vision tasks, including face detection and verification, pose estimation, and visual question answering. FHIBE includes 10,318 diverse, consented images, captured across 81 jurisdictions using varied environments and camera types. Each image is meticulously annotated to capture a wide range of demographic and physical attributes, enabling nuanced assessments of fairness and bias. As Alice Xiang, Global Head of AI Governance at Sony Group Corporation and Lead Research Scientist for AI Ethics at Sony AI, stated, “FHIBE is proof that fair and responsible practices can be achieved when ethical AI is a priority. AI is evolving rapidly, and it is imperative for us to investigate the ethical implications of how we collect and use data. For too long, the industry has relied on datasets that lack diversity, reinforce bias, and are collected without proper consent.” Join us in paving the way for a more equitable future in AI! 🌍✨ For more details and access to the dataset, visit: https://lnkd.in/g59tjgJj #SonyAI Sony Europe #Technology #EthicalAI https://lnkd.in/egPGJZDt

Recently, our Sony Europe Lund branch participated in two events aimed at inspiring future talent in technology and innovation, Coder Kids and ARKAD. At Coder Kids, a yearly event arranged by Ideon Science Park in Lund that Sony has proudly joined since its inception, we supported young learners aged 8-12 in exploring coding through Scratch, helping them create their own games and projects. This initiative aims to inspire young minds to dive into the world of coding. 👩💻 Later, at ARKAD, the annual career fair at Lund University, we connected with students, shared insights about our work and career opportunities, and featured our ‘Wheel of Fortune’ for fun interactions and giveaways. 🎓 We’re excited to continue fostering innovation and creativity in the next generation! Thanks to all our members who represented our company and dedicated their time to inspire and guide these future talents! #Sony_Lund #Sustainability #SocialContribution [Image Description: Image 1: A collage featuring the Sony booth at a career fair.
