Today's budget announcement could be a turning point for the UK gambling sector. Fresh Gambling Commission data shows the industry surging to £16.8B GGY, up 7.3% YoY, with online gambling dominating at £7.8B. A 1-point increase in Remote Gaming Duty alone would deliver an extra £78M annually. Factor in General Betting Duty and machine duties, and the government suddenly sees a high-yield opportunity with relatively low political friction. But there’s more going on beneath the headline: • New quarterly reporting gives regulators real-time visibility. • Seasonal shifts are clearer than ever. • Operators have less room for “wait and see.” If duties rise this autumn, margins tighten, acquisition costs shift, and promotional strategies evolve fast. Players may not feel the tax directly, but they’ll notice the downstream effects in fewer bonuses, stricter wagering, slower innovation. Read the full story: https://bit.ly/44zKS3o

Indiana’s commercial casino sector remained broadly stable in October, with total adjusted gross revenue of $200.6M, down just 0.5% year-on-year. Slots revenue climbed 1.8%, partially offsetting a 10.9% decline in table games, possibly a signal of resilience amid shifting player habits. The Indiana Gaming Commission reported mixed fortunes across the state’s 13 casinos: - 7 casinos saw year-on-year declines - 5 reported growth, led by Terre Haute Casino (+15.2%) and Harrah’s Hoosier Park (+12.2%) - Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana remained the top performer with $35.9M, despite a 3.7% dip However, behind stable numbers lie two challenges: - Public sentiment: A new survey shows over two-thirds of Indiana residents oppose the introduction of iGaming, with resistance increasing as awareness grows. - Labor tensions: The Horseshoe Indianapolis dealer strike for union recognition continues, highlighting workforce strains within land-based operations. For industry observers, Indiana’s October report shows a market at equilibrium. Stable revenue conceals structural pressures around workforce relations and digital expansion, both of which will influence how operators plan for 2026 and beyond. Northamptonshire Police have uncovered a major cannabis factory inside the disused Aspers Casino on Commercial Street. Officers executed a warrant around 9 a.m. on October 30, cutting through reinforced doors to find hundreds of cannabis plants spread across multiple floors, complete with lighting rigs, ventilation systems, and illegal electrical bypasses. The building, empty since the casino relocated several years ago, had become a hidden hub of organised crime. Police footage revealed plants and makeshift living quarters. This discovery is part of a wider pattern across Northamptonshire. Over the past year, similar large-scale grows have been found in Wellingborough, Kettering, and Corby, each one hidden in abandoned commercial properties. Police describe these sites as dangerous both structurally and electrically, with serious risks of fire and human trafficking. Beyond the criminal angle lies a bigger urban question: what happens to large leisure sites when the lights go out? Casinos.com has tracked the trend nationwide, and the message is clear: disused spaces attract risk unless communities, developers, and local authorities act early to repurpose them safely. Anyone with information about illegal drug activity can contact Northamptonshire Police on 101 (incident ref: NP-20251030-0900) or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. 👉 Read the full report 👉 https://lnkd.in/eZC9zchG #casinoscom #casinonews #Northampton #UKNews

As the 2025–26 NBA season begins, Commissioner Adam Silver is urging greater oversight of sports betting, particularly prop bets that can threaten player integrity and fuel harassment. Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Silver said federal legislation could help create consistent rules across states and curb the excesses of advertising and betting promotions. His remarks come amid renewed congressional interest in the SAFE Bet Act, which would bring federal oversight to state betting programs. Silver also emphasized that regulated betting has improved the NBA’s ability to detect suspicious activity, a key safeguard after recent gambling scandals involving players.
