Residents will begin noticing an enhanced look at St. Joseph’s City Hall starting on Friday, November 28, as newly installed colored lighting illuminates the building’s exterior for the first time. The lighting installation, completed over the past few weeks, debuts in conjunction with the opening of the Holiday Park and South Pole displays at Krug Park and Hyde Park. The initial display will feature festive green and red lighting to celebrate the start of the Christmas season. A total of 14 LED fixtures have been added around City Hall, including five each on the north and south sides and two each on the east and west sides. The system allows for customizable colors to mark holidays, community events and awareness campaigns and to celebrate local sports teams’ achievements. The lighting project is one of several ongoing improvements as the preparations continue for the 100th anniversary of City Hall in 2027. Sidewalks have been replaced, new period lighting has been installed along the balustrade facing Civic Center Park, the fountain on the north side of the building is being regraded and rebuilt, hallways are being repainted and elevators are being upgraded, among other improvements.
