At Helion, our engineers design and build machines that must operate with extreme precision: pulsing at nanosecond timescales, surviving enormous forces, all while magnetically coupling cleanly to the plasma itself. Every component of the structure must be designed with reliability, efficiency, and system-level interconnectedness in mind. The result? Bigger, stronger, more efficient magnets and structures that push fusion performance forward. Watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/eHKgv4uq

Building the world's first fusion power plant
About us
We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone. Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group and new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). Now, we're turning up operations for Polaris, and working towards delivering the world's first fusion power plant. More than ever, it's a pivotal time to join us and have the opportunity to solve real challenges to create a better energy future. You will see first-hand how we value urgency, rigor, ownership, and hard truths, knowing it will take each to do what no one has before. Joining us, you will push the boundaries of what's possible and transform humanity for the better - because the world can't wait.

Something really elegant about Helion's approach to fusion is that we directly recover energy from our fusion reactions. This means huge gains for efficiency, bypassing lossy conversion cycles used by most other methods of energy production today. To measure the energy we produce from fusion, we deploy high performance electrical diagnostics throughout our capacitor bank. These diagnostics measure the health of our energy systems and also read back voltages after each pulse. I talk more about how we do that here: https://lnkd.in/gNG9Dfcm

Sat down with Lex Fridman for a wide-ranging conversation about fusion, from the physics behind E=mc² to the engineering challenges of turning fusion pulse energy into electricity. We covered fusion v. fission, geopolitics, simulation and control systems, the energy needs of AI, and what it takes to build the world’s first fusion power plant by 2028. It’s one of the most in-depth discussions I’ve had about where Helion stands today and what it will take to scale. You can watch the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/gbGMRh-B

It’s time to fill up our next fusion factory! This time with more conveyor belts and more automation. Introducing Omega: our newest production space in Everett, WA. Just down the road from our headquarters, Antares, Omega is the space where we will expand our capacitor manufacturing capabilities to meet demands for our first fusion power plant and beyond. Empty now, but not for long, we’ll be outfitting this 165,000+ sq. ft. facility with machines that more than 10x our capacitor throughput over the next year. Automation engineers – we’re calling you to help us design this space! Check out our open roles and reach out if it’s a fit.

At Helion, we do fusion every day. And we know because we detect neutrons, a fusion product. Read more about the neutron diagnostic suite we have deployed for Polaris in this blog post! https://lnkd.in/g_yfMdkk

Between operations, we recently welcomed GeekWire for an inside look at Polaris, our seventh and final prototype. Polaris has been operating, doing fusion every day for several months. Now, our team continues to focus on improving plasma performance and increasing circuit efficiency across the full system. We’re learning daily and advancing our technology rapidly – all with the goal to bring fusion electricity to the grid as soon as possible. Now accepting proposals for HERCULES, Helion’s external research funding program! HERCULES will expand Helion’s external development programs to accelerate long-term technical breakthroughs that help scale Helion’s fusion power plants after Orion to global mass deployment. With more than $17 million in funding committed now through 2028, the program supports research labs and universities in developing materials and technologies through three research phases. Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis, with priority given to submissions received by Jan. 5, 2026. Interested applicants can learn more on this page: helionenergy.com/hercules
