Demo of Layout studio: creating a multi-page document, master pages, page borders, page numbers, and basic publication structures. Demonstration of Pixel studio: pulling royalty-free images from Pexels in-app and doing pro-level edits (remove background, unsharp mask, vibrance, dodge/burn). Using Canva AI inside Affinity (non-intrusively) to remove backgrounds and generate on-brand assets Managing complex text: linked text boxes, tight text wrap around irregular images, and paragraph/character styles. Vector studio demo: building a simple chameleon icon from basic shapes using Boolean operations and shape builder, then integrating it into the layout. Classroom and school use cases: portfolios, field-trip reports, zines, newsletters, diocesan communications, marketing materials, and esports design projects. I spent 7 days working Canva’s booth at the American Marketing Association and EDUCAUSE conferences. Three things were impossible to ignore. 👇 People love Canva ❤️ Attendees would walk over just to say “I love your product”. Countless stories about how Canva helps them build their business, side-hustle, personal project, coursework and more. It was too cool. I’ve never seen organic demand like that. As we build out Canva for Enterprise, the product itself is our biggest tailwind. Affinity completes the puzzle 🧩 Canva is now an end-to-end content creation platform for non-designers AND designers...and people are taking notice. I was genuinely surprised by how many Affinity questions we got from creative teams who see the opportunity to bring everything into one ecosystem. AI learning is top of mind in higher-ed 🤖 IT and security leaders all asked some version of the same question: “Will our content be used to train AI models, and how do we control that?” Enterprise-grade controls and brand-safe AI are not “nice to haves” in higher-ed, they’re essential. We couldn't do this five years ago! Video was too complex, files too large, and software to unapproachable. Today students and teachers have so many options to integrate video into their curriculum. We believe that students should be building digital literacies around communication with video and that when teachers to so, they are giving students real challenge that they are eager to dig into!

Never neglect the little things! The best designers consider all the options when creating and teachers should do the same. We love Canva because it gives us so much flexibility and control when designing learning. In our most recent newsletter, we look at the importance of signaling and communication to our students about the progress of our presentation. “Formative assessment gives us the ability to adapt our teaching live in the moment.” Students love nod along and express that they are understanding what you're teaching, but do they really get it? We love this quick formative assessment routine in Canva that embeds hinge questions into your lessons live using polls and quizzes, now known as "Forms". Student responses can export directly into the slide presentation for quick review and into Canva Sheets for data tracking. Well timed formative assessments can surface student thinking. Quick retrieval nudges memory, fast feedback guides next steps, and everyone sees progress without piling on prep. A few ways to try it this week: Pick 3–5 key terms in your current unit, generate a quiz, and run it live or assign asynchronously. Use the Responses panel to spot patterns and adjust your next mini-lesson. Start small (3 terms), then scale up as fluency grows. Why it aligns with good practice: Reinforces retrieval (better retention and transfer). Provides mastery-oriented feedback, fast.
