The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) is changing how many taxpayers may be impacted by the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) — and it could mean a bigger bill for some high-income earners starting in 2026.   Here’s what’s happening: • Starting in 2026, phaseout thresholds will reset to lower levels and reduce twice as fast. • That means more taxpayers could see the AMT come back into play.   Who’s most likely to be affected? • Taxpayers with large capital gains • Those exercising incentive stock options (ISOs) • Investors with private activity bond interest income   While the AMT won’t hit everyone, those with complex income or investment activity should pay attention.
