The leading private capital market intelligence platform

About us

PitchBook is the leading resource for comprehensive data, research and insights spanning the global capital markets. Our unprecedented offerings are brought to life through the PitchBook Platform, a dynamic suite of products designed to help you win. Founded in 2007, CEO John Gabbert knew that his idea for an actionable, extensive database for private equity-focused intelligence was worth pursuing. The rest is PitchBook history. Since those early days, PitchBook has expanded its coverage areas to include the entirety of the global public and private markets. We’ve added thousands of datasets and millions of individual insights into the platform, and we’ve pioneered new features and products that surface the information our clients need. We look at every day as a new opportunity to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations through helping them make informed decisions that propel their firms forward. Now part of Morningstar, PitchBook is headquartered in Seattle, London, and Singapore with additional offices in New York and San Francisco.

I loved being a part of this project. Working with the customers to bring their stories and wins to life is my favorite part of the job. If you’re growing your deal team, entering new markets, or looking to sharpen your valuations, this is the exact type of outcome we help drive. ➡️ http://spr.ly/60457Ux7J

  • Chart defined industries or create visuals that match your own unique vision of the capital markets with PitchBook Market Maps. This data visualization tool surfaces top companies, capital raised, and other valuable insights for a given space, and create saved searches based on your findings. Quickly create presentation-ready assets from scratch or with a template developed by a PitchBook analyst and customize your maps by adding and removing companies as markets develop. https://lnkd.in/g7wE5QDK

  • Last week, the board of CalPERS unanimously approved the adoption of a total portfolio investment model, the pet project of chief investment officer Stephen Gilmore. After over a year of lobbying the board of the roughly $556 billion public pension plan, Gilmore finally has the green light to forgo Calpers’ strategic asset allocation in favor of a model that he argues will improve governance and performance. Calpers’ governance will undergo a big overhaul. But Gilmore’s conviction that the new model will improve performance is largely based on a hunch rather than firm evidence. Dimitri Zabelin has been a fantastic addition to our research team. Beyond his witty social posts, Dimitri consistently delivers insightful and original perspectives on the evolving AI landscape. His latest analysis, “Sovereign AI: The Trillion-Dollar Frontier” (see link below), uses PitchBook data to show how mid-sized nations are racing to achieve AI autonomy for national security reasons. From the report: “The [US and China] … are actively constructing parallel, often incompatible, technology ecosystems. Every other nation is increasingly forced to make a strategic choice: align with the US-led bloc, characterized by a market-driven approach with strong corporate champions, or the China-led bloc, defined by state-directed industrial policy and a focus on self-sufficiency.” Unlike previous waves of technological change, the AI revolution is accelerating the urgency for countries to establish sovereign AI strategies. This shift is unlocking significant global investment opportunities for stakeholders able to navigate the complexities and risks of these diverse markets. https://lnkd.in/gv8EmtjG

Wall Street is getting into the (booming) venture secondaries game. Goldman Sachs is shelling out an initial $665M to buy Industry Ventures. Charles Schwab is set to pay $600M for Forge. And Morgan Stanley has a deal in place to acquire EquityZen. Direct secondary deals in US startups have eclipsed a record $60B in annual transaction volumes. GP-led secondary deals are hovering around $14.6B and are projected to grow by an additional $1.5B over the next two years. My latest PitchBook story breaks down Wall Street's secondaries spending spree ⬇️

  • AI has driven dealmaking and a narrative of rebound, but nearly all other verticals continue to stagnate, facing further declines in dealmaking. Our webinar convened experts from PitchBook, National Venture Capital Association, J.P. Morgan, and Dentons, along with Gautham D. from EisnerAmper to discuss findings from the Q3 2025 PitchBook-NVCA Venture Monitor report and how upcoming headwinds may affect the market. Never miss a beat with actionable intelligence and forward-looking research. Watch the full recording to learn more ➡️ https://pitchb.co/vDgAsf

  • Join Jinny Choi, PitchBook Senior Private Equity Analyst, for an exclusive view of the 2025 ACG Florida Capital Connections event. 🛬 Hosted in Orlando, ACG is a premier event for M&A professionals, focusing on middle-market growth and bringing together thousands of dealmakers who invest in, own, and advise high-growth companies. 🌎 Jinny kicked off a morning panel discussion where she shared data on regional growth and deal trends in the mid-market—bringing PitchBook’s data to life for participants and sparking conversations about the future of the regional M&A sector. 📈 PitchBook staff also manned a booth at the event, offering live platform demos to attendees and demonstrating the power of the industry’s most comprehensive, accurate, and reliable data for dealmaking. 💻 This was an incredible opportunity for the team to connect with new and familiar faces, and to demonstrate the power of PitchBook to a new audience. 🚀

We had an incredible time at Web Summit Lisbon this year! 🎉 PitchBook was honored to sponsor the Platinum Investor Lounge, where we introduced our in-platform AI capability, PitchBook Navigator. This natural language search combines advanced #AI and human insights to enable faster, more confident decisions. Our product specialists Seth Sprinkle and McKinley McGinn demoed Navigator at the Product Hub, while our analysts Nalin Patel and Navina Rajan discussed private market trends, AI, and VC at the Analyst Nook. 🚀 Startups and investors sparked meaningful conversations and connections during the summit. 🤝 A huge thank you to everyone who joined, especially members of our PitchBook executive team, including Chief Solutions Officer Paul Santarelli and Executive Vice President, Technology & Engineering Tom Van Buskirk. We look forward to seeing you next year!
