Analyze surface slope

Analyze surface slope

- [Instructor] We saw the power of an elevation analysis in the previous video. This time, let's see how to analyze a surface based on slope. To get started, I'll zoom in a bit and click one of the contours to select the surface and then pick surface properties. I'll pick a surface style that shows the slope information. In this case, we'll do slope banding 3D. Then I'll go to the analysis tab and choose my analysis type as slopes. For this example, we want to use three ranges. So I'll type in the number three, press the arrow down to populate the range detail section of the dialogue with those three ranges. Now, what I'd like to do is have a flat slope range, a good slope range or optimum, and then a steep slope range. And we'll say our flat slopes are from zero to 2%. We want to identify those areas where we might have drainage issues because the ground is too flat. Our optimum range, we'll say, is 2 to 10%. Anything in that range has good drainage and it's also flat enough to build…
