Setting a budget to save money
- [Instructor] Another way to make sure we keep our AWS monthly costs within an expected range is to create a budget. Just like you can create a budget in real life to monitor how you would spend on groceries and eating out, you can create budgets within AWS to monitor your spending on one or all of your AWS services. On the left, scroll down and click on Budgets. Click on Create a budget. Make sure Use a template is selected, and then select Monthly cost budget. If you want to be alerted to any charges, you can also use the Zero spend budget template. For the budget amount, type in the monthly amount that you feel comfortable spending while you are learning AWS. For myself, I'm going to set my budget at $20 a month. So in the field, I just want to type 20.00. Put in your email address and verify that the budget scope is set to All AWS services and click the Create button at the bottom of this screen.
