- Once your organization has decided that using the cloud is the right solution for them, the next decision is whether to host it on site or to contract it as a hosted solution from a third party. Now, when hosting a solution on site, this is often referred to as on-premise. While using on-premise solutions are great from a security standpoint, they are extremely costly. If you've decided to use an on-premise solution, this means you need to procure all the hardware, software, and personnel necessary to run your organization's cloud solution. In addition to this, you also need to have a facility for the data center that can hold all the equipment, providing adequate power, space, and cooling. Because of this, many organizations instead use a hosted solution. With a hosted solution, a third party service provider will provide all the hardware and facilities needed to maintain your cloud solution.
