- In this lesson, we're going to discuss some of the requirements that must be defined when you're setting up a penetration test. When it comes to penetration testing, planning is incredibly important. Now, there are three major factors for any assessment, time, cost, and quality. These three factors are always in competition with each other, and decisions on their priority have to be agreed upon upfront between the penetration tester and the organization who's contracting the engagement. For example, if you want the assessment to be faster, it's either going to cost you more money or require a lower quality threshold. On the other hand, if you want a really in-depth and high quality engagement, then it might cost additional resources in terms of people and money, or it might take more time. If you want an inexpensive penetration test to be conducted, then you shouldn't expect it to be fast or of high quality. Again, these are all competing factors that you have to consider during…
