- To increase our confidence, we have to start doing things that we haven't necessarily done before, and some of those things will inevitably be outside of our comfort zone. In traditional coaching and psychology, people talk about what's inside the comfort zone and what's outside the comfort zone. They'll say things like, "Everything you already have "and everything you already do is inside your comfort zone, "and everything that you want is outside of it." And it's not that they're wrong, but they are oversimplifying things and they are missing a crucial part. Saying you just have to go outside your comfort zone to get what you want makes it sound like any area outside of your comfort zone will be equally uncomfortable. But that's not true, is it?
