In my opinion, a major contributor to digital transformation success is simply getting the basics in order first. The truth is, if your current processes are clunky, hard to follow, or broken, trying to automate them without fixing the issues first is a recipe for trouble. Let me share a slightly fictionalized example. At the XYZ Supply Company, setting up a new customer involves having a signed contract on file outlining terms like payment schedules, discounts, and return policies. The contract is the basis for invoicing, as the finance department uses these details to create the bill when an order is placed. However, orders would frequently arrive before the contract was completed.
