- [Instructor] Excel has a category of functions called information functions. You're likely to have overlooked it. If, for example, you go to the Formulas tab and looking at function library, you don't see it at first unless you click More Functions. And there they are. There's about 20 of them. Many of these begin with IS. We'll be looking at a number of those. We've got a list over in columns B, C, and D. Let's say the focus is on column D, and it looks a little strange there because it looks like we've got a capital O in some cases. We might have a lowercase l or capital L, we're not sure, maybe uppercase I. But within a large set of numbers, sometimes we would make a quick check and we could be using a function called ISNUMBER. And it almost explains itself, is the cell a number? Are these cells numbers? They are or they aren't, depending upon their content. And notice that an empty cell is not a number, therefore…
