- [Instructor] A best practice when controlling costs which for GCP is to set up budgets and alerts, and I've done that here. So you can see I set up a budget for monthly for a specified amount and it applies to this billing account with triggers set at 25, 50, and 100%. And here's showing my spend. So if I clicked on create budget, you can see that I have a cost trend and I can specify monthly, quarterly, yearly or custom for specific projects or for specific services by specific labels. I can include credits, set the amount, and set the actions. Now, a really critical aspect of budgets is shown right here in the interface. Setting a budget does not cap resource or API consumption. You are simply alerted. So in other words, if your budget succeeded, the services that are going beyond your budget do not get shut off.
