What do you need for this course?
You don't need any specific Jira skills or special Jira permissions for this course. Ideally, you'll have some experience using other web-based applications. You probably already use a lot of web software for your work and personal life. If you can send an email, order a product online, or pay a bill from a website, you can use Jira. All you need right now is user-level access to your organization's Jira application. A test environment is the safest way to experiment and explore features without impacting real production data. Your organization might already have a sandbox environment you can use. If you have Jira Cloud Premium or Enterprise, sandbox functionality is already built in. If there's no existing test environment, sign up for your own free version of Jira Cloud. When you're done with this course, you can keep the free version for future testing or for personal projects like remodeling the kitchen or recording family milestones. It's really hard to keep up with software changes, especially with cloud software. New features are added, moved, or changed all the time. Existing features or even entire products are renamed, and links that worked yesterday are broken today. That's why I've set up a special place on my website where you can get the latest Jira information. When something impactful to the course changes, I'll post that information at the URL shown. Now's a good time to bookmark that location. Go ahead. I'll wait. Oh, and one last thing. For some of you, I speak too slowly, and for others, I speak too fast. Luckily, the LinkedIn video player has some useful features to help you move at your own pace. On the bottom left, use the skip back icon to rewind 10 seconds and hear information again. On the bottom right, use the 1x icon to increase or decrease the speed. Also, consider using the captions feature if that's helpful. Finally, I also recommend opening your test application in a separate browser window so you can follow along with me. Just pause the video, explore the same area in your application, and come on back.
