Creating a storage account in the portal
- [Brett] In this lecture, we're going to look at storage accounts and the options that we configure as we create them. As with most things, to create a service, we can go to create resource from the main screen or go to the burger menu and click create resource. We want search for storage accounts and make sure we're selecting the option that is provided by Microsoft. The usual options appear. We need to select subscription and a resource group to put it in. So I'm just going to put this into a resource group I created earlier. Then we need to give the storage account a name. Now storage accounts need to have unique names across the Azure platform and unlike some of the other services we can create in Azure, they all have to be lower case. We can't use any special characters and they've got to be within a short file name. So I will prefix this with my name and we'll just call it my first storage account.
