- So now we're going to actually determine the schedule, and there are two parts to it, a forward pass and a backward pass. Okay, so let's do first the forward pass. As I said, each activity is going to get one of these 3 by 3 boxes. So I've put the little box up there in the top right-hand corner, and we're going to start with ES, the earliest start. And A is the first activity, so I'm going to ask the question, what is the earliest start for A? If you want to think about that, that's fine, but it should be reasonably clear that the earliest start for A is 0. At least zero is the convention. You might think it starts at 1. No, we always start at 0. Okay, so the earliest start for A is 0. So now we ask the question, what is the earliest finish for A? And we say that the earliest start for A is 0, it takes 5, and so the earliest finish for A is 5. That should be reasonably clear, right? The earliest finish A is 5.…
