- So the project manager needs to buy something, services or a piece of the job, we're going to subcontract out a piece of the scope. To do that, they use something called a request for proposal. You put out a series of documents and the people tell you what they can do it for. So again, we don't need to know the details of this, we're going to cover it in general. What makes up a request for proposal universally referred to as RFP, right/ So the first thing is you work with contracting professionals. Again, the project manager doesn't need to know the legal niceties, but they work with contracting professionals who are going to support them. And you develop bid documents, which are all the documents to solicit the information, a quotation or a proposal from prospective sellers.
