- Raspberry Pi is a really capable multimedia machine. It's very easy to play audio and video. The VLC video and audio player is included with Raspberry Pi OS. If you've got a folder full of music, you can go to VLCs media menu and choose 'Open directory.' The music will start playing right away. You can also use VLC to play video files that you've downloaded to your Raspberry Pi. It can also open network streams or video capture devices that you've connected to your Raspberry Pi. For a full featured multimedia experience, consider installing a dedicated media center operating system on your Raspberry Pi. In Raspberry Pi Imager, when you click the 'Choose OS' button, you can select the media player category and choose from popular options like LibreELEC or Volumio.
