- [Narrator] An IoT device is simple with minimal processing capabilities, a battery, and onboard storage. In this segment, we'll learn how a denial-of-sleep attack will slowly drain the battery, which can in turn render a normally active IoT device inactive. But first, let's talk about a specific type of IoT device, a sensor node. A sensor node is designed to collect data. Multiple sensor nodes create a wireless sensor network. A wireless sensor network is comprised of low-powered sensors that monitor processes, take measurements, gather data, and communicate to other devices and data repositories. Wireless sensor networks monitor everything from power line voltage, chemical concentrations, and oil and gas production. Basic elements in the sensor network include sensor nodes.
