Administering hub site associations

- [Instructor] Okay, so we've done the hard part. We put some real thought into what we need in terms of hub sites and how individual sites need to relate to them. Now how do we actually set that up? Well, honestly, this part is simple. You just need to remember two things. First, you need to create the sites before you can associate them, and then you need to register the hub site after which you can associate the individual sites. So I've created a supply chain hub site, which I'm going to use as my example. I've selected this in my list of active sites, and now I'm going to click on the ellipsis in the menu bar and select Hub. And now all I have to do is click Register as a hub site. Okay, that's done. Now you'll notice that you have the ability to specify permission of who can associate with this hub. Basically, if you leave this blank, anyone in your organization can associate their site with your hub which probably isn't ideal, but we'll look at this when we get into permissions and access management, okay? Now, let's associate this material's purchasing site with the supply chain hub. Once again, I'll select it, and then I'll click the ellipsis and click Hub, and here we want to click Associate with a hub. This opens up another window where I can select the hub site I want to use from all the available hubs in the environment. Supply chain hub, that's what I want. And then we click Save and it is associated. Now, what happens if your individual site needs to roll up to a different hub? Say you used to group things geographically and now you want them to be grouped by function. Well, luckily, this is also simple. Select the site again, click the ellipsis, select Hub, and this time click on Change Hub Association. You're taken back to the Hub Association window where you can reselect your hub from any of the ones available in the dropdown. Easy peasy.
