Managing licenses and leases

- [Instructor] Licenses and leases are like contracts for goods, but in these situations, there's no transfer of ownership. You may be familiar with software licensing agreements, for example, or the leasing of office space. Let's take a closer look at these two special types of contracts. When managing a license contract, there are four areas to consider. I'll use a software agreement as an example. The first concern is to determine who is authorized to use the software and where. For example, if your contract allows all company employees to use the software, then contractors and customers are specifically not authorized. Therefore, you must make sure your user list matches your needs. Second, it's important to specify if software updates and upgrades are included in the price of the contract.
