- [Instructor] One terrific capability in Tableau is the ability to create level of detail expressions. Most calculations happen at a specific level such as the sheet level, the table row level, and so on. Level of detail expressions let you specify the level at which you want your calculation to occur independently of the arrangement of fields within your viz. And in this movie, I will show you how to define three types of level of detail expressions and give examples of their use. My sample file is 04_05 level of detail and you can find it in the chapter 4 folder of the exercise files collection. In this visualization, I have already created a text table that breaks down product category costs for orders by property state.
