Changing your vision, part one

- This week on the Practicing Photographer, I want to address a problem that I frequently see with beginning photographers. It's not a technical problem. It's a problem with the way people usually see when they're first starting out with a camera. Fortunately, once you're aware of it, it's an easy problem to practice away. I'm going to show you a series of images, and all of these images suffer from the same issue, so take a look at these. Here's a kitten in a pet shop. A macro shot of a flower. You might recognize this if you've watched my macro course. A GoPro shot off the back of a motorcycle, and a giraffe in Kenya. All of these images have the same serious problem. Did you get what it was? Here's the whole batch. The problem is that in each of these photos, there are things that are supposed to be black, but in none of these images, is there any black.
