- [Instructor] Communication systems exist in almost every type of building, and they range from the simple like phone lines and internet in our homes, to complex systems like the building management information, security images and signals, temperature control data, and private networks found in large-scale commercial buildings and campuses. And it's not just indoors. There's a larger outdoor ecosystem of signals and receivers that connect everything together. Towers, transmitters and receivers, satellites and miles of overhead and underground cables are constantly passing information between buildings and directly to us on our mobile devices. All of these systems rely on their own components to pass the information. Connected together, these components become what most people call a network. You can think of communication systems like roadways. Some small networks are like neighborhood streets connecting one house to another. This might be comparable to a small home or office…
