Reliance Industries Limited and its global partners Brookfield Corporation and Digital Realty are making a powerful move into India’s AI future with a USD 11 billion investment in Andhra Pradesh. Their joint venture, Digital Connexion, will build a massive one gigawatt AI data capacity in Visakhapatnam, creating one of the country’s most advanced AI-native data centre campuses across 400 acres. The project arrives at a moment when global demand for high-density computing is at an all-time high. Google has already announced its own AI data capacity plans in Visakhapatnam, calling it its largest AI hub outside the United States. Industry experts say India’s data-centre capacity is on track to more than triple by 2030 as cloud adoption, digital transformation and policy incentives fuel unprecedented growth. For Reliance, this investment strengthens its position at the heart of India’s digital infrastructure expansion. For Brookfield and Digital Realty, it marks a strategic entry into one of the world’s fastest-growing data-centre markets. The Andhra Pradesh government says the project will boost job creation and firmly establish Visakhapatnam as a major global destination for AI compute and digital innovation.
