We are reiterating our commitment to the UK, boosting support for businesses and consumers with approximately £45 billion of increased lending over the next three years. C. S. Venkatakrishnan, Group Chief Executive, said: “We believe in the strength and dynamism of the UK. This is a textbook example of strengthening the 'National Stack.' Local capital supporting local industry. We are mirroring this philosophy in the Gulf-Africa corridor. Just as Barclays supports the UK SME, we are building the 'Sovereign Stack' to allow Gulf capital to support African resource development. The difference is the infrastructure: In emerging markets, we have the opportunity to leapfrog legacy banking directly to quantum-secure, wholesale digital rails. Different regions, same goal: Sovereignty.
Impressive 👍
Impressive move to drive long-term growth.
A strong signal of confidence in the UK’s economic resilience. In an environment where capital allocation is increasingly selective, this level of commitment to businesses and consumers stands out. Strategic long-term investment paired with expanded lending can play a meaningful role in reinforcing growth and stability.
It's encouraging to see such a strong commitment to the UK economy. Increasing lending by £45 billion and investing directly in operations underscores Barclays' confidence in supporting both businesses and consumers. Initiatives like these will undoubtedly drive growth, innovation, and opportunity across the UK market.

May I be the first person to call #Bullshit on this statement. I base my opinion on Barclays having #DeBanked me for no explainable reason. It's taken 16 years and still no actual answers, in the meantime I have #threats from Barclays, their #solicitors Barclays even sent a man to threaten me on my doorstep. Which was nice...!
