Six-time Stanley Cup champion Mark Messier once said... “The Stanley Cup is more than just a trophy. It’s a symbol of hockey’s history and tradition. Every player who’s ever held it knows they’re part of something bigger than themselves.” That idea of legacy and teamwork inspired a tradition of our own: the Kustom Kup. Last year, Kustom US - Sacramento became the first team to lift the three-foot sterling silver chalice, led to victory by David Chaloupka. Last week, we brought everything full circle. David passed the torch to someone he helped mentor: Alex Kholiavko — whose North Seattle team earned the right to lift the Kup as our second-ever champions. Protégé to pack leader. That’s the story the Kup was made to capture. Because in our world, victory is never the work of one person.
