Nxera and AbbVie achieve second R&D milestone, receive $10M

18th CTAD Conference, 2025, San Diego. Our abstract on a next-generation neuro-therapeutic platform integrating our pre-clinical drug pipeline data with predictive modeling has been accepted for poster presentation at the Clinical Trials on Alzheimer’s Disease (CTAD) Conference 2025 in San Diego. This work highlights our progress in developing pipelines and clinical tools that bridge molecular discovery with therapeutic design for Alzheimer’s and related disorders. Our team will be attending to present these advances and engage with other colleagues in neurodegeneration research.

🧠 Another Alzheimer’s blood test just got FDA approval — this time from Roche & Eli Lilly. It measures pTau181, a core Alzheimer’s protein, to help doctors identify patients with cognitive symptoms who may have Alzheimer’s pathology. The first FDA-cleared test came in May (Fujirebio’s pTau217/β-Amyloid 1-42 ratio). Roche’s test is notable because it’s approved for primary-care use, not just specialist labs, potentially making early diagnosis far more accessible. Faster, cheaper, and far less invasive than a spinal tap or PET scan.

At #ECTRIMS2025, investigators shared data from the prospective, multicenter CAVS-MS trial—the largest to date evaluating PRLs in real-world diagnostic scenarios. Results support the addition of paramagnetic rim lesions as a confirmatory biomarker in the 2024 McDonald Criteria, showing both high specificity and sensitivity in patients with suspected MS. Fibrosis is a hallmark of severe endometriosis, presumably tied to debilitating pelvic pain. Despite its link to classic endometriosis-related symptoms, the mechanisms driving fibrosis and lesion formation remain underexplored. We're pleased to announce the publication of the second SHORE study in JACC Journals validating AlloSure Heart, an integral component of HeartCare, as a reliable biomarker for antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) in heart transplant recipients. As the largest published dataset for molecular testing in AMR, with 2,240 patients across 59 U.S. transplant centers, this study sets a new benchmark in transplant diagnostics. Notably, AlloSure Heart results ≥0.50% were shown to be highly specific (92.8%) for AMR diagnosis.
