October 2025 - Building trust in the age of AI
Casually scrolling through your social feed is becoming increasingly fraught: What’s real? Who’s real? And how can you tell the difference? AI-generated faces blink, breathe, and speak with familiar voices. News stories travel faster than fact-checking ever could, bolstered by hyper-realistic videos. The explosion of generative AI has made it easier than ever to create and connect, which we love! But these tools can also deceive.
Cybercrime remains one of the fastest-growing global threats, with an expected global cost of US$10.5 trillion by the end of 2025, according to Cybersecurity Ventures. If cybercrime were a country, it would represent the world’s third-largest economy. And the pace isn’t slowing — it’s projected to cost the world US$1 trillion per month by 2031. Staggering, right?
And check this: Lenovo’s own research reveals that 65% of IT leaders think their defenses can’t withstand AI cybercrime.
AI can automate reconnaissance, mimic legitimate behavior, and bypass defenses in real time. Defending against these threats requires systems that can think and adapt just as fast. So, what should we do? That’s a question for both individuals and enterprises.
The trust and security mindset
At Lenovo, we believe the future of cybersecurity lies first and foremost in empowering people—savvy to the risks, well versed in the AI landscape, and ready to take action. But in the era of AI, we also need to use cutting-edge technology, backed by a security-first culture and transparent design principles that embed trust from the start.
Cybersecurity Awareness Month is an ideal time to reflect—not just on the risks, but on the shared responsibility of building resilience. As Doug Fisher, our Chief Security and AI Officer put it, “Security isn’t a department — it’s a mindset.”
In a recent article, Doug elaborated on the urgency and opportunity: “We’ve placed trust at the heart of everything we do, from our AI governance framework to our global supply chain, and from how we design products to how we protect data.”
We nurture a culture where every employee plays a role in security and extends that collaboration outward through partnerships with governments, academia, and industry. Lenovo is a proud participant in both the Secure by Design and Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative (JCDC) initiatives, which unite industry leaders to proactively strengthen global defenses and secure critical infrastructure.
Fighting AI with AI
“AI has changed the balance of power in cybersecurity. To keep up, organizations need intelligence that adapts as fast as the threats. That means fighting AI with AI,” said Rakshit Ghura, Vice President & General Manager, Lenovo Digital Workplace Solutions. “With intelligent, adaptive defenses, IT leaders can protect their people, assets, and data while unlocking AI’s full potential to drive business forward.”
That’s why Lenovo offers comprehensive, award-winning solutions, including Cyber Resiliency as a Service and ThinkShield.
So while we rank among the top workplaces for AI innovation and enthusiastically embrace the dizzying speed of this moment, our efforts must always be deliberate. If you’re with us on the journey, let your IT teams lead adoption, integrate security best practices, and increase your team members’ AI literacy through education and training.
And if you need a partner you can trust, with a proven track record, ready to deliver real ROI on the frontiers of agentic AI, well… look no further. 😉
The AI-powered transformation of sports
To literally shift gears, we had cause to celebrate the fusion of technology and world-class performance: The Ducati Lenovo Team secured the 2025 MotoGP Teams’ World Championship, completing the historic Triple Crown. This triumph follows Ducati Corse’s earlier success in the Constructors’ Championship at the race in Barcelona, and Marc Márquez’s iconic win of the Riders’ Title in Motegi.
Powered by Lenovo’s advanced technology and Ducati’s engineering excellence, the team’s 2025 season has been defined by dominance and precision. Congrats to all involved!
Meanwhile, our FIFA partnership and end-to-end AI-driven solutions will elevate the experience of players, staff, and fans of the beautiful game. Take it from Arsène Wenger, the iconic innovator and FIFA’s Chief of Football Development: “AI will transform our game.”
We’ll have much more to share when we take the stage at Sphere in Las Vegas in January.

ai for cybersecurity defense is the future, using ml models to detect threats in real time is critical
That 65% figure is a serious wake-up call. As the Canadian BPO sector rapidly adopts AI, prioritizing AI-powered cybersecurity to defend against AI cybercrime is non-negotiable for maintaining client trust and data integrity. Great to see Lenovo focusing on proactive defense. 🇨🇦
