Markets are resetting towards our new regime with more rate repricing this week. The economy is already in stagnation in response to tightening (see chart). With some of these adjustments underway, more opportunities are emerging.   I see macro opportunities too but they are less plentiful than in Great Moderation. More than ever I look to mega forces that go beyond the ebbs and flows of a stagnating backdrop:   ➡️ AI – think not just tech requirements but also the large-scale data owners, infrastructure centres, apps, use cases, and potential broad productivity gains; ➡️ Future of finance – think private debt as banks step back from credit provision; ➡️ Geopolitical fragmentation – think tech, clean energy, cyber security, infrastructure, and international and currency diversification; ➡️ Low carbon transition - large capital reallocation, sectors like tech and European util, we are incorporating into our broad capital market assumptions (CMA); ➡️ Aging population - not just healthcare, think retiring baby boomers saving -> dissaving.. …Opportunities are plentiful in #MegaForce.

Which Sectors in Real Estate Are Family Offices Likely to Invest in Now? As family offices consider where to allocate their capital, real estate remains a primary focus. Its tangible nature, potential for steady income, and ability to hedge against inflation make it an attractive asset class. However, the specific sectors within real estate that capture family office interest are shifting based on evolving market dynamics, long-term goals, and generational priorities. Family offices are increasingly focused on specific real estate sectors that align with their long-term goals and investment strategies: 1. Multifamily Housing: A preferred sector due to stable cash flows and growing demand in both urban and suburban areas. There's also rising interest in affordable housing, driven by both impact investing and market needs. 2. Industrial and Logistics: The e-commerce boom continues to drive demand for warehouses and distribution centers. Family offices are particularly interested in last-mile delivery properties. 3. Medical and Life Sciences: Healthcare-related properties offer stability and long-term leases, making them attractive. The aging population also drives demand for senior living facilities. 4. Hospitality: With the rebound in travel, there’s renewed interest in hotels, resorts, and unique experiential properties. 5. Office Space: Investments focus on flexible office solutions and properties with strong sustainability credentials, adapting to hybrid work trends. 6. Student Housing: Consistent demand, resilience during economic fluctuations, and long-term leases make student housing appealing. It also offers opportunities for global diversification. Investment Strategies - Family offices leverage their significant capital and long-term perspective through: 1. Direct Investments and Partnerships: Direct control and flexibility in niche markets are key benefits, often complemented by strategic partnerships. 2. Value-Add and Opportunistic Strategies: Higher returns are sought through investments in properties needing redevelopment, with a focus on market timing. 3. Long-Term Holdings and Legacy Projects: Real estate is used to preserve wealth across generations, with a focus on long-term capital appreciation and legacy-building. 4. Geographic Diversification: Family offices are increasingly investing globally, partnering with local experts to mitigate risks and tap into emerging markets. Family offices remain committed to real estate, leveraging their unique advantages to navigate and capitalize on market opportunities. #familyoffice #familyoffices

After teaching 12,000+ students, spending 6+ years in Financial Services (including Big4s), and mentoring 1,000+ students, I’ve compiled a practical guide on what to upskill to build a career in Finance: 𝟭. 𝗖𝗙𝗔 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝟮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘀: Whether or not you sit for the exam is your choice. But borrow the CFA Level 1 & 2 books from friends and get thorough with Equity, Corporate Finance, FRA, Portfolio Management, Quants. 𝟮. 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹: Finance = analysis, and spreadsheets are the foundation. I’ve shared a 3-hour free podcast with 20+ case studies for you to get hands-on. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸. 𝟯. 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗜: Reporting is at the heart of most finance roles today. Learn at least the fundamentals. 𝟰. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴: Be able to build a 3-statement model, and understand revenue drivers, cost drivers, capex, and debt funding. 𝟱. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Pick one sector (banking, pharma, real estate, etc.) and learn it deeply like the key players, ratios, SWOT, business cycles, govt rules. This will set you apart in analysis. 𝟲. 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀: Choose two finance domains (Investment Banking, Equity Research, FP&A, Big4 Consulting all are different) and do structured courses from good content creators. 𝟳. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: Draft well, speak with clarity, and practice brevity. This cannot be learned in classrooms - it comes only from exposure. (I mentor on this, happy to help!) 𝟴. 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘆: Invest money, apply for IPOs, do trading (small amount only), read books, listen to podcasts take bets and experiments. The more mistakes, at an early age, better it is. 𝟵. 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: Career opportunities take time to mature. Just like childbirth, the process needs patience and effort. I once attended a "Career options in Finance for CFAs" seminar → met someone → got referred to ISB for Excel training 5 years later. So start Building - the right Ecosystem for yourself. If you know Shraddha Kapoor is on LinkedIn but don't know what is =COPILOT or FlexiCap fund or Leila Gharani or Ray Dalio or Regression then you are follwing the wrong people. Fun tip: Start watching Billions (Showtime) and Silicon Valley today. Don’t rush into Python: First master Excel, Power BI, and Financial Modelling. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: I have 30+ mentors, and I mentor 1,000+ people. Mentors aren’t gifted - you have to earn them, don't expect free help without building rapport or providing value. 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Finance is important, but life is bigger than IRR, or ROI. Go on dates, follow hobbies, and be passionate & support causes. That balance will make you sharper in your career too. #ChinmayaAmteExcel

🎥 Want your first job in Film & TV in the U.S. or Canada? Let’s skip the fantasy: you won’t find it on LinkedIn. Most screen industry jobs are still found through word of mouth, referrals, and networking. Repeat hires matter. So does hustle. If you don’t have connections yet, you’re not out of luck—just start where you are. I built my network (and resume) from the ground up by being a fly on the wall—even below the PA. I started by cleaning floors, literally learning “the floor.” Every broom sweep taught me something about set dynamics, hustle, and humility. Here’s where I’d start if I were breaking in today 👇 🇺🇸 U.S. 🎬 EntertainmentCareers. net – great for entry-level and internships 🎬 Staff Me Up – THE place for production gigs (especially reality, doc, & indie) 🎬 ProductionHUB – freelance and crew calls nationwide 🎬 Film & TV Facebook groups like “IA Production Assistants” 🎬 Made in NY PA Training Program – a solid launchpad if you're in NYC 🎬 Sundance Collab – workshops, community, and networking for indie creators 🎬 Film Independent – especially helpful if you're L.A-based 🎬 Ghetto Film School – early access to creative career paths 🎬 Roadmap Writers – for aspiring screenwriters 🎬 Writers Guild Foundation – Script Coordinator and Writers' Assistant labs (essential for breaking into the writers’ room!) 🎬 The Black TV & Film Collective – mentorship and access 🎬 Women in Film – advocacy + job boards 🎬 NALIP (Latinx creators), CAPE USA (AAPI creatives), and Brown Girls Doc Mafia – community-based entry points 🎬 UTA, WME, CAA career pages – assistant jobs are brutal but they open doors 🎬 Your local film commission website – often post crew calls for shoots in your state 🇨🇦 Canada 🎬 Media Job Search Canada – jobs in production, radio, digital, and post 🎬 CBC Careers – production assistant, researcher, and editorial roles 🎬 CMPA Job Board – hiring on indie film and TV projects 🎬 National Screen Institute – killer programs for writers, producers, and directors 🎬 Creative BC – film funding, crew training, job listings 🎬 Ontario Creates – industry news, skills dev, and grants 🎬 BIPOC TV & Film – community, mentorships, and job calls 🎬 ACTRA & DGC – their trainee programs are worth watching 💡 Pro tip: PA gigs, assistant/reader jobs, and internships may not be sexy, but they’re gold for getting in the room. Say yes, learn fast, and be easy to work with. 💼🌍

Every HR leader starts somewhere. Behind every title lies a journey of learning, growth, and impact. Here's how the path unfolds: 🔹 HR Intern – You’re more than “just observing”. You’re soaking up everything—interviews, onboarding, data entry, even birthday lists. This is where you learn the language of HR. 🔹 HR Assistant / Coordinator – The silent engine. You juggle calendars, follow-ups, and spreadsheets. You’re the operational glue behind the scenes. 🔹 HR Executive / Associate – Now you're owning pieces of the puzzle—recruitment, onboarding, maybe even employee engagement. People come to you. You’ve earned that trust. 🔹 HR Generalist – A true all-rounder. From policies to payroll and training to grievances—you’re the go-to for everything: Jack-of-all-HR, master of many. 🔹 HR Specialist – You pick your lane: talent acquisition, L&D, compensation & benefits, or organisational development. You go deep, not just wide. 🔹 HR Business Partner (HRBP) – Strategy enters the chat. You align people with business goals. You advise leaders, shape teams, and make HR more human. 🔹 HR Manager – You lead with intent. You build trust, manage teams, and nurture culture, not just processes. 🔹 Senior HR Manager – Now you're looking ahead. Succession planning, leadership development, workforce strategy—this is where you build long-term impact. 🔹 HR Director – You drive the people strategy for entire regions or organisations. Culture, DEI, performance—you don’t just manage HR, you shape the future of work. 🔹 VP of HR – Vision becomes your strength. You mentor future leaders, align with the CEO, and make HR a true strategic partner. 🔹 CHRO / Chief People Officer – You’re the soul-builder of the organization. You shape the leadership table, guide culture at scale, and ensure people strategy drives business success.

The media and PR industries are in massive flux. If you’re in agency, in-house or you just run a business, here are my predictions of where we’ll be by 2027: 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗳𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 With AI-generated content becoming more sophisticated, misinformation, false news - and false content - will be more prevalent than ever. Ensuring authenticity will become a core function. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱” 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝘃𝘆 𝗖𝗘𝗢𝘀 Being everywhere is riskier than ever. Leaders who once sought maximum visibility will start retreating, valuing privacy over constant exposure - and risk of private information hacking. The best PRs will advise clients to dial down social commentary and stay in their lanes. 𝗣𝗼𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 The podcast boom is peaking. Video will dominate Instagram as the go-to medium for engagement, especially for commentary and thought leadership. Companies will realise limited ROI of individual corporate podcasts and reduce spend. 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝘁 Static images will struggle to achieve even minimum traction as video-first strategies take over. Expect a shift in platform algorithms and audience expectations. 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 AI will deepen mistrust in digital content, making human-to-human interaction the most valuable asset. Who you’re in the room with which will matter most. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹 > 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Clients will prioritise high-level, strategic guidance over one-off tactics, which will be taken in-house. 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 Fewer journalists, shrinking newsrooms, busier news cycles, and a shift towards paid-for trade content mean traditional media coverage will become harder to secure. Alternative strategies will be essential. 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝘁 – 𝗜𝗻-𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 Companies will spend less on PR agencies, investing instead on external consultants for strategic oversight with in-house teams undertaking tactical activity. 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝘆𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 (𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁) 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝘁 As AI capabilities increase, learning tone of voice and matching previous (human) styling, the role of traditional copywriting will shrink. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 With misinformation, deepfakes, and real-time scrutiny peaking, PR professionals will need to operate with a “when, not if” mindset. By the end of next year, trust, privacy and human connection will be the most important strategic currencies. Are you ready?

How do you break in to the non-profit sector at entry-level? Here's how I made it happen and ended up working at one of my dream orgs, Amnesty International 👇 Get a mentor / Organise a virtual coffee ☕ When I first set my sights on the charity sector, I messaged every UK based social media manager I could find to ask for a quick chat. Making connections with people in the industry you want to break into is one of the most valuable ways to gain an insight into a career path. It doesn't matter if it doesn't turn into a long term mentorship - you will likely always learn something new. (Shout out Ellie Williams, Hannah Lattimer,Katrina Pitt, Vivienne Benson, Clarissa P. and so many others for making the time for me ❤) Volunteer Having the time to volunteer is a privilege many people don't have and that's important to recognize. If you do have time to spare, charity shops and organisations are always asking for help managing their social media - it's a great way to build experience on your CV, and can always lead to more job opportunities. Make sure to check the Jobs tab on LinkedIn - there are new roles every day! Take advantage of free courses Google, Hootsuite and LinkedIn have some great free courses as introductions to social media management - it's great to have the certificates to your name too. If you're interested in human rights specifically, Amnesty International has a fantastic certified human rights platform with hundreds of lessons on varying topics. Read 📚 There are so many amazing fiction and non-fiction books on international development. As well as being a great conversation piece for interviews, they will expand your way of thinking and offer new insights that can be invaluable in charity work. A personal favourite of mine is The Life You Can Save by Peter Singer, which talks about the philosophies of charity donations and the difference that can be made. A bonus tip is to get the book #ENTRYLEVELBOSS by Alexa Shoen - this book was so useful to me and has helped me in interviews time and again. It shares wisdom on CV's, personal branding, reaching out to employers and so much more. Colleagues in and around the international development sector - what advice would you offer to people trying to get into the industry?
