At the 4th DPGA Annual Members Meeting in Brasília, UNICEF ICT Division co-hosted three sessions that brought together government partners, UN agencies, NGOs, and the private sector to explore how we design user-centered and child-rights sensitive Digital Public Goods (DPGs) and ensure their scalability. Two key themes emerged from these discussions: 𝟭. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀. User-centered design is fundamental to effective public digital services. We shared UNICEF’s Digital Principles to illustrate why solutions must begin with the children and communities they serve, ensuring accessibility and inclusion at every step. 𝟮. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗣𝗚 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 (𝗗𝗣𝗜). As DPGs become core components of DPI, their readiness and maturity are critical. We emphasized the need for robust frameworks so DPGs can integrate seamlessly into government systems and reliably support service delivery. Thank you to all co-facilitators and participants for driving this important conversation forward #foreverychild. Great to see our UNICEF digital team showcasing real impact at the DPGA meetings in Brasília. Proud of this work and the partnerships behind it.
What an inspiring 3 days at the DPGA Annual Members Meeting 2025 in Brasília! 🇧🇷 Throughout the event, we partnered with FAO, Open Government Products of Singapore, GitHub, Digital Public Goods Alliance, and eGov Foundation on a series of workshops and sessions focused on: • Designing and scaling citizen-centered services • Exploring the benefits, impact, and metrics that matter for digital public goods (DPGs) • Assessing the scalability and readiness of DPGs through the Universal Software Maturity Indicator and the Government Readiness Framework At the DPG Fair, UNICEF showcased our DPG product family — Bebbo, HOPE, IoGT, Oky, Primero and RapidPro — each addressing critical needs for governments to deliver better results for children. These solutions also integrate with other DPGs such as Open Function (OpenFn) and DHIS2 to collectively extend their reach and impact. I also had the opportunity to visit UNICEF Brasil to discuss practical applications of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in strengthening government digital services — enhancing interoperability across early childhood development, education, and health systems. UNICEF remains steadfast in its commitment to champion DPGs and DPI— working with governments and partners to deliver better, more equitable outcomes for every child. 🌍💙 UNICEF Digital Technology Taichiro Fujino Chris Szymczak

AI is moving faster than most of the structures meant to protect the people it impacts. Which is why this #GenAISummit keynote matters. In London, April 2026, we'll be joined by Kaan Cetinturk (Global CIO, UNICEF) and Henrietta Ridley (Chief AI, UNICEF) for a conversation most organisations should’ve started already: How do you build and deploy AI without forgetting children exist in the system? They’ll dig into: → Designing AI with child rights baked in → What accountability actually looks like → How to close the maturity gap between “we’re experimenting” and “we’re responsible” → Why cross-sector collaboration isn’t optional here A grounded, necessary session - and one that will leave teams with practical ways to build AI that protects, not harms >> https://lnkd.in/gpwBPVZv #GenAISummit #UNICEF #ResponsibleAI #AIethics #ChildRights

Representing UNICEF at the International Organizations Career Fair at IE University was a great opportunity to connect with talented students. Their interest in our mission and commitment to child rights was inspiring. The next generation is ready to make an impact for the world’s children, and we value the global collaboration that made this event possible. Oky teams from seven countries convened in Zambia to exchange experiences on localization and scaling across Africa. The workshop focused on innovative approaches and lessons learned to ensure Oky remains girl-led, inclusive, accessible in low-resource settings, and continuously evolving. Our goal: to strengthen the Oky community and ecosystem with and for girls. A big thank you to the incredible teams from Tanzania (Tai Tanzania), South Africa (LoveLife), Zambia (Population Council), Madagascar, Côte d’Ivoire (PSI), Burundi (SaCoDe), Kenya (LVCT Health), and UNICEF for their dedication and collaboration. We are also deeply grateful to our partners and funders who made this workshop possible: Austrian Development Agency, UNICEF Africa, Maverick Collective, Population Services International, UNICEF Australia Australian Aid

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱! My Day, My Rights. Today, on World Children’s Day, UNICEF launches its flagship report: The State of the World’s Children 2025: Ending Child Poverty – Our Shared Imperative. The findings are stark: • 𝟰𝟭𝟳 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 children in low- and middle-income countries are severely deprived of at least two essential needs such as nutrition and sanitation. • 𝟭𝟭𝟴 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 face three or more deprivations, and 17 million face four or more. • Conflict, climate crises, and funding cuts threaten to push even more children into poverty. But there is hope. Countries like Tanzania and Bangladesh have shown that progress is possible through cash support programmes, improved access to education, and investments in water and sanitation. Digital solutions can help accelerate change: - Mobile cash transfer platforms to empower families - Digital learning tools to keep children in school during crises - Data-driven health and nutrition apps to reach the most vulnerable We can end child poverty!
