Partnership makes impact possible. In the wake of Hurricane Melissa's devastation in Jamaica, Project HOPE is proud to be providing primary and emergency health care to impacted communities. Just yesterday, our team supported a lifesaving medevac from our field hospital outside the damaged Noel Holmes General Hospital in Lucea. This is all made possible thanks to the generosity of the U.S State Department, the US Embassy in Jamaica, and our longtime partner SAMU First Response. Photos: Charlie Cordero

We’re also expanding the response and recruiting for several roles including Medical, WASH, MHPSS, M&E, Logistics, Finance, and Compliance. Last night, Kyiv region and other regions of Ukraine were once again subjected to a massive combined attack. The main target was Kyiv and the surrounding region. Residential buildings and civilian and energy infrastructure facilities in the city were damaged. There are casualties and injuries. Due to the consequences of the shelling, emergency power cuts have been introduced, and there are interruptions in heat and water supply. The Project HOPE team expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the dead and injured. On this difficult day, we stand with the residents of the Dniprovsky district of Kyiv, whose homes have been damaged or destroyed. We have provided family and individual hygiene kits to support people who have lost their basic living conditions and to help meet their most urgent needs. Our psychologists have also provided initial support to those affected to help them cope with the initial stress of what they have experienced. Among the victims is 78-year-old Vyacheslav, who lost his home and all his documents today. Despite what he has been through, he is holding on and says, “I am starting a new life.” The Project HOPE team remains close by and continues to support people and communities in need. Urgent Relief, Lasting Impact. When Project HOPE responds, like in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, we bring lifesaving aid and supplies; but the goal is always to create long-term, sustainable futures for communities in need. We are currently hiring locals in Jamaica to fill a range of positions including medical staff like doctors, nurses, midwives, and pharmacists as well as logistics and finance coordinators and even HR staff to continue rebuilding communities impacted by the storm. If you know someone who may be a good fit, please tag them in the comments and encourage applicants to explore all the available opportunities to join our team in Jamaica: https://bit.ly/4omOop5 Photo: Charlie Cordero

As we approach #GivingTuesday and the final weeks of 2025, we’re taking a moment to reflect and share our gratitude for our incredible community. Community is at the core of everything we do; our work stretches across cultures, and we believe that health is a fundamental human right for all. Every dollar donated, and every social media post shared helps build our community of global health champions and furthers our mission to strengthen access to care around the world. We are so thankful for your continued support and look forward to making more impact together in 2026 and beyond! https://bit.ly/47MOhOC Photo: James Buck for Project HOPE, 2024.

As we wrap up #WorldAMRAwarenessWeek, it’s a good moment to reflect on how antimicrobial resistance is already shaping routine care across our programs. This year’s theme, “Act Now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future” speaks directly to the kind of work our teams are doing every day. In #Ghana, through our Integrated Health Partnerships activity funded by the U.S. Department of State, AMR considerations are part of #maternal and #newborn care - stronger #IPC in facilities, earlier recognition of infections, more consistent use of #diagnostics, and more careful use of #antibiotics. These are practical steps that protect mothers and newborns. In #Ethiopia, our U.S. Department of State–funded Health Security Activity integrates AMR into broader #preparedness and #response. Improving #surveillance, #laboratory systems, workforce #training, and #reporting helps detect drug-resistant infections earlier and strengthens the link between AMR and overall health security. #AMR requires shared responsibility across sectors, but progress often comes from everyday clinical practice - preventing infections, improving diagnostic capacity, and ensuring antimicrobials are used appropriately. Thankful to our Project HOPE teams and #partners who keep this work moving - every day, in every facility, for every community!

This International Children’s Day, we honor the incredible strength and resilience of the millions of children we serve around the world — including these five whose lives have been profoundly disrupted by the ongoing war in Ukraine. Through our mental health and psychosocial support centers, we are helping them begin to heal and adapt to their changing reality. These centers offer a safe space where children can come together, make arts and crafts, attend workshops and classes, and rediscover a sense of safety and belonging. The EACAP project was made possible by the generous support of the American people.
