‼️ The bipartisan REUSE Act has unanimously passed the Senate ‼️ The global plastics problem is complex, but we know we need to reuse what we currently have AND make fewer plastics in the first place. Last week, Ocean Conservancy's #ProtectWhereWePlay initiative united with the City of Long Beach and representatives from USA Artistic Swimming and the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee to clean up Alamitos Beach, removing 769 pounds of debris from the shoreline! 👏 Long Beach is one of the venue cities for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, so cleaning up and protecting this treasured coast is crucial for wildlife, athletes and sports fans alike. 🏖️ Alamitos Beach will stage multiple Olympic and Paralympic events, including volleyball, open water swimming, coastal rowing, sailing and blind football. 🏅 We know the power of sport to mobilize people to take action for our ocean. Don't be a fossil fool. Offshore drilling is dirty, dangerous and has devastating consequences for our ocean. Now, the Trump administration is proposing a drastic expansion of offshore drilling, including in areas where oil and gas development has never taken place. Expanding offshore drilling is not only unnecessary, it's a recipe for disaster. Instead of doubling down on this risky practice, we should focus on transitioning to clean, responsible renewable energy sources.
